OUR MISSION

The Center for International Humanitarian Cooperation (CIHC) was founded in 1992 to promote healing and peace in countries shattered by natural disasters, armed conflicts, and ethnic violence. The Center employs its resources and unique personal contacts to stimulate interest in humanitarian issues and to promote and support innovative educational programs and training models. Our extensive list of publications and regular symposia address both the basic issues and the emerging challenges of humanitarian assistance.

Courses

The CIHC developed the groundbreaking International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance (IDHA) program in 1997. In 2004 it began to transfer responsibility for the course to its academic partner, Fordham University's Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs (IIHA), who continue to run it to this day. The CIHC assists with thought leadership, humanitarian contacts, and support for scholarships and development.

The CIHC is a generous donor of scholarships to those from the global south interested in taking courses in the IDHA. All applications for support should be made through the IIHA at iiha@fordham.edu

The CIHC has brought together numerous conferences, courses, and edited volumes and continues to support The Refuge Press. All can be found either at The Refuge Press or in the Humanitarian Series at Fordham University Press, in ROutledge, and other publishers.
