Where and when is this course taught?

The next DMTC will be held in Barcelona, Spain from May 6 - 12, 2012. Please refer to our Course Calendar for future dates and locations.

What is the length of the program?

The course runs for approximately one week.

What is the total cost for this program?

We are pleased to announce that, in response to participant requests, we have come to an agreement with Fordham University on tuition for our one week programs for the following year. These new tuition rates will apply only to participants attending our one week programs after March 15th, 2011.

For those who wish to receive academic credit, the cost remains the same discounted rate of $1,600.00 US Dollars. Upon successful completion of the program participants are entitled to two academic credits through Fordham University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.  This rate includes tuition, course materials, lunch and coffee breaks. It does not include accommodation and transportation costs.

For those who do not wish to receive formal academic credit, the cost has been reduced to $900.00 US Dollars.  Participants will receive a certificate of attendance for the program but will receive no formal academic recognition.  This rate includes tuition, course materials, lunch and coffee breaks. It does not include accommodation and transportation costs.

Please note: The choice must be made before the course begins and cannot be changed at a later date.

What language(s) is this course taught in?

The DMTC program is taught in English.

Who is eligible to apply?

This is a multi-disciplinary training program for students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. All participants are required to have a university degree and to be at least 25 years old. Preference will be given to students with humanitarian field experience, emergency or development. All courses are conducted in English.

Senior managers of aid agencies, private organizations, and senior military personnel are ideal candidates for the DMTC course.

When is the final date to apply?

Applications are taken on a rolling basis. Once the course has been filled, a waiting list will be implemented.

Is it possible to defer my acceptance to another DMTC course?

No, deferment is not permitted. A participant must reapply for the following DMTC course.

What is your cancellation policy?

Are scholarships available?

Yes, the CIHC offers a limited number of scholarships. To be considered for a scholarship, you must indicate so on your application, and specify the exact amount of funding that you are applying for.

Am I eligible for a scholarship?

The CIHC offers a small number of partial scholarships (no more than fifty percent) to selected students. To be eligible, you must be a citizen of a developing nation and be currently working within the humanitarian field. Scholarships do not cover the cost of transportation. Scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred to other courses.

Is academic credit granted for this course?

With the recent of the Masters in International Humanitarian Action (MIHA) at Fordham University, all CIHC courses offered can be counted toward the Masters. Two academic credits can be received upon successful completion of this course.

If accepted, do I need a visa?

Depending on your citizenship, you may need a visa.  Upon acceptance to the program, our staff will send you an invitation letter to the program, which can be used to apply for a visa. Although we may be able to provide assistance in obtaining you a visa, it is the participant’s responsibility to obtain his/her visa.
