How do I apply?

If you are interested in applying, please fill out an application.

What is the total cost for this program?

There is no cost for this course due to a grant from Americares. However, participants are responsible for the cost of transportation to and from the course site.

Where and when is this course taught?

The DMTC course is taught twice a year at a rotating venue in Latin America or the Caribbean. Past locations include Nicaragua. Please refer to our Calendar of Events for future dates and locations.

What language(s) is this course taught in?

The DMTC program is taught in English, occasionally with Spanish translation.

Who are the preferred candidates?

Ideal candidates for the DMTC would not be from the chief executive level, but instead from the next level down, where the work in an emergency is typically done.  Senior managers of aid agencies, private organizations, and senior military (e.g., rank of Colonel) would be the ideal candidates.

Is academic credit granted for this course?

No, academic credit is not granted for this course. However, participants receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course.

How long is this course?

The course runs for approximately one week.

When is the final date to apply?

Applications are taken on a rolling basis.  Once the course has been filled, a waiting list will be implemented.

Is it possible to defer my acceptance to another DMTC course?

No, deferment is not permitted. A participant must reapply for the following DMTC course.

If accepted, do I need a visa?

Depending on your citizenship, you may need a visa.  Upon acceptance to the program, our staff will send you an invitation letter to the program, which can be used to apply for a visa. Although we may be able to provide assistance in obtaining you a visa, it is the participant’s responsibility to obtain his/her visa.
