In the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, it is clear that there needs to be a greater understanding of the preparation for quick and focused reaction to disasters, whether they are natural or man-made. In either case, each could lead to a complex emergency that dwarfs the initial problem. By focusing on a select group of decision makers and senior level policy implementers, this course will benefit the local populations in the target region who are severely impacted by hurricanes and resulting complex emergencies.
The course utilizes existent strategies and tools, practical exercises, case studies, and interactive multi-cultural discussion to explore the issues.
